Power Cuts
LASERTM Heaters need electricity to operate. If Power cuts are
a worry (ie. farmers in districts where snow causes damage to power lines).
The LASERTM 73 Heater needs 280 watts for 5 minutes for the
automatic ignition to operate.
(Laser 56 proportionally less). After 5 minutes the total power consumed for all three fans,
to produce 9.5kw continuously is 80 watts. (Similar to an electric blanket or a TV set).
Today, most farmers and many handy persons own small generators -- usual sizes are 3000 watts
to 6000 watts, so the 80 watts needed to power the LASERTM 73 is miniscule compared to other
emergency needs.
Alternatively, with a 300 watt "sine wave Inverter", ($120 from JAYCO @ 28-2-06), the
LASERTM 73 will operate for 72 hours from a
(good condition) car battery (without charging) of an average 2 litre car.
TOYOTOMI also offer an electronic inverter kitset, where a dedicated battery is permanently
installed in a home. The "inverter kitset" automatically maintains the battery in a charged state when
the power is "ON" and automatically changes over to battery operation without interruption
to combustion if the power fails. The inverter automatically returns to mains power operation when the
power is restored.
